Our roots
Where it all began
Dr. Frank H. Bassett
1929–2007
As Duke’s longtime team physician, Dr. Bassett was a pioneer in sports medicine and a mentor to many. He believed being “True Blue” meant investing in the next generation and leaving a legacy of care.

Dr. Claude T. Moorman II
1939–2009
A Duke football All-American and Duke Med graduate, Dr. Moorman served in Vietnam, led in both medicine and military service, and was named an ACC Legend in 2008.
